PKT's New Comer Crankcase Pressure Gauge 2/15/2016PKT's new Comer crankcase pressure gauge is used to diagnose crankcase integrity. This gauge can be used to verify that the crankcase is sealed properly and is able to maintain correct crankcase pressure.
Finding out if you have a bad seal or gasket is accomplished with ease. This makes this tool a vital part of any engine program. Current tech specs can vary. Check your racing series for current rules. The other nice feature is that this tool can also be used to check pop off pressure.
While the Comer C-51 has no pop off pressure, the Yamaha, Swift, Rok engine that you will be using in future cadet classes do. That adds even more value.

Hi all,Just thought I would seek some advice about my grub screws which seem to always work themselves loose. OTK FA 30mm with 40mm axle running middle bearing loose. I have tried lock tight and wrenching them really tight. Seem to work themselves loose after every session. Has resulted in a huge loss in pace during a race meeting (sometimes 2 seconds slower)I'm thinking of buying new bearings and seeing how that goes. Maybe the thread in the actual bearing is flogged out? What are some things you guys do to make sure they don't come loose?
I used to run this chassis with a Kt100 S and had no problems, now that I have an x30 (restricted) it now is an issue. In my experience, cable ties or tape will only stop the grub screws backing out further once they have loosened, it won't stop them becoming loose in the first place. Probably much the same for loc-tite type 'glues'.I've seen several OTK axles become indented where the grub screw bears against the shaft, which suggests that some OTK axles may be fairly soft (i.e.
Soft steel, I don't mean axle stiffness). If so then the metal will permanently indent more easily, and once indented won't 'push back' against the grub screws with enough force to prevent them becoming loose. If this is a correct analysis, then the 'fix' would be to use a harder axle (i.e. Harder metal, not stiffer axle), or, use a stiffer axle (by definition this means an axle with a thicker wall).
A harder steel and / or stiffer axle will resist permanent deformation better, and retain it's resistance / pressure against the end of the grub screw, so should (in theory) be less likely to allow the grub screws to become loose.Without changing axles, then axle collars should do the job (I've never used them, but reckon they ought to work).Regards,John.Reply by on February 2, 2016 at 12:39. Colin Edwards said: 'Kart manufacturers use these bearings because the are inexpensive and readily available. They are not designed for karts!' Agreed, but they are easily up to the job, being very large relative to the forces they are required to deal with. We're lucky they are quite suitable, can you imagine the cost if we needed purpose designed kart axle bearings, considering how few would need to be made relative to other more generic bearings.' The grub screws would usually act on a thick wall spindle or solid shaft.' Which is why they can be problematic with thin walled / soft steeled axles.
I've never had this problem with thicker walled axles, nor with thin walled axles that I assume are relatively hard (metallurgically).Regards.
